The Milne Bay Military Challenge

The Milne Bay Military Challenge

Our major Community Service project, the Milne Bay Military Challenge is an annual event that raises funds to help our local community.

The community trail race takes place at Toowoomba’s Redwood and Jubliee Parks each year and is a must for those wanting to set the best record, or for those just looking to have some fun.

It is a fantastic community event where participants can enjoy the breathtaking views of the range and valley, and feel great about helping out our local community.

They're off and running in the inaugural Milne Bay Military Challenge - 12th Mar 2017

In 2013, the Rotary Club of Toowoomba South aligned with Kokoda Challenge to run an event to assist the Kokoda Youth Foundation to support disadvantaged young people in the Darling Downs region.

Our alignment with Kokoda Youth Foundation came to an end in 2017, but the event lives on as a new project, totally organised by our Satellite Club, the Edge Rotary Satellite Club of Toowoomba South.

The new event is known as the Milne Bay Military Challenge and is run over the same course as the previous Kokoda Challenge.

However, one big difference post 2017, is that 100% of the funds raised by the Milne Bay Military Challenge now stay local, on the Darling Downs.

About the Event

The Milne Bay Military Challenge is an annual team endurance event through the National Parks of Toowoomba. It was staged for the first time on the 12th March 2017 and raises funds for Toowoomba based charities.

The event honours the hallowed memory of the many men who voluntarily enlisted from the Downs, and who entrained at, or passed through Toowoomba to become members of the 2/25th Battalion.

The Milne Bay Military Challenge event is hosted by Rotary Club of Toowoomba South and it’s Satellite Club, The Edge and sponsored by Hutchinson Builders.
